Ben Sebastian has, over the last two years, supported in excess of three hundred bands, recording artists and composers in his podcasts and reaction\/review videos over on <\/span>YouTube.<\/a> He just LOVES Metal but more importantly he feels it is important to encourage artists to double-down on their own, unique, talents as a way of surpassing the vicissitudes of life; whatever their instrument, level of ability, production affordability or chosen genre. As an ex-cocaine addict and an ex-prisoner, he believes that no musician is beyond redemption and wishes to see a world where musicians and fellow creatives achieve success not just in the 'music industry' but also amongst their peers and most importantly, within themselves. He is a Buddhist, which means his world centres around creating an ethical, understanding, supportive and loving community with each member finding their purpose (be that musical or otherwise) as a way of ameliorating the suffering of the Human existence. That doesn\u2019t mean his OWN metal creations aren't as vicious as bag of malnourished piranhas though! (check him out on the roster).<\/span><\/p>

In helping artists gain new listeners, he saw many musicians, bands, friends become 'signed' by labels and became somewhat concerned at the high-cost, and in some cases, personal toll, it took on these talented individuals. Having celebrated in their 'success'; only to learn that the artists were left financially (and spiritually) out of pocket brought about a sense of dismay towards the industry and the sense of direction musicians are typically guided towards, and also a sense of personal guilt having lauded the achievement of becoming 'signed' only to later see their world fall apart in some way. There are of course, great labels and marketeers out there, but these often are inaccessible to the lay artists and of course there is also an added weighted unfairness that artists are now paid 0.003 cents per stream on Major Streaming Platforms, with a threat of even THAT becoming reduced, making it virtually impossible to derive an income on their own steam.<\/span><\/p>

Against this backdrop, <\/span>FACE RIPPER RECORDS<\/u><\/span><\/a> was born. Consider it an entry-level, foundation, label if you will; but Ben considers it a community. His 'signed' artists aren't really signed at all, for there are no contracts, no clauses, no ambiguous wording, no shady deals and no fat-cat executives involved. The artists you see on this label have arrived willingly, at no cost, and can leave willingly any time up to and including the day a major label signs them and takes them under their wing and into their marketing funnel, again - at no cost. Where artists bear the <\/span>FACE RIPPER RECORDS<\/u><\/span><\/a> name on their material, they do so out of the great faith they have in the label. All their music remains theirs ALL THE TIME, with their monetary systems left intact and uninterred with but not only that, they get a host of benefits:<\/span><\/p>
